I have a 06 C-6 that has been lowered and have been having problems with scraping on unlevel roads, driveways, etc. and is showing wear. Question: Does removing the front air dam or bumber spoiler produce any negative effects to the car's performance?
Thanks,
Pat
Guys have taken them off & cut them down, seen about 1” cut off & looks stock. Don’t think you would ever notice any performance difference, maybe around 170MPH
It's really for cooling, to direct airflow toward the radiator, oil cooler, etc. If you don't have anything blocking airflow to the radiator from the front, you may be ok, but cutting it down may be a better option.
Thanks for the advice. I forgot to mention I have a Vararam CAI also. I will try the cut down, which should be an easy fix and still be operational to some degree.
Cheers,
Pat
Guess if you really want to get technical, measure the distance between a stock spoiler & the ground, keep that distance the same when you cut it down. I just let mine scrape.
Thanks John,
I am having the "mods" you sold me installed at Quality Motorsports tomorrow (a forum vendor). Will post the new dyno numbers when I get it back. I am going to have to cut down the spoiler as it has picked up some jagged edges from all the uneven roads around here. Still loving the ride!
Cheers,
Pat

I am having the same issue with dragging my front air dam on my '07 C-6. I was thinking of trying to remove it but was wondering if you cut yours down and what were the results? Any cooling issues? Thanks
I removed the side pieces and cut down the center section. Some left there helps pull air through radiator. On my base model I also closed off the bottom feed into radiator. I noticed a significant decrease in front end float above ninety.
