Anyone ever put in a cam designed for torque around 4500-6000 rpm and not high rpm HP
seems like you could get more practical use from the engine on the road track coming out of the turns and extend the engine's longetivity
from what i have read most failures are do to repeated 7000 rpm revs and the stock pistons can't take it.
as all race drivers know rpm is for show and torque wins the race!
That's going to be hard because torque and hp cross at 5250 and that is where torque starts to take a back seat to horsepower. That's not to say that a lot of torque can't be made at that point it's just going to be less than the horsepower being made from there on out. Torque is what gets you moving and horsepower is what keeps you moving. You'll never go fast without either one.
First, for all practical purposes (measurements in terms of numbers), torque and horsepower are just two different ways of measuring power.
At any given RPM, you cannot have more horsepower without also having more torque. Almost any high performance cam is going to offer great torque AND horsepower between 4500 and 6000 RPMs. Where the "big" cams really shine is that their power doesn't drop off after 6000 RPMs. Even with such a big cam, the torque peak is still going to occur right around 4500 to 4700 RPMs. Where the torque is lost is below 3000 RPMs.
For oval track and road racing applications, where the intent is to have as much power as possible in a very narrow RPM range, usually the LSA (lobe separation angle) is narrowed, and the valve timing events are tailored to the desired RPM range. Look at the specs for the ASA cam, for example. These cams are great for the track, crummy for the street.

Yes, and you also will also see in the above graph that with this package by 2500 RPM we are already making more TQ than what the stock package did bone stock!
This, coupled by an absolutely stellar recommendation from one of your past customers while out at the Bonneville Open Road Race last weekend, now has my wheels turning inside my head.
Sheesh, I had already been on your site once this morning. You're killing me over here............
