Im getting a steering wheel vibration when Im driving the car over 60mph, as when you let go of the wheel you see it vibrating from left to right really fast. You don't get it thou when your driving on lower speeds... now I did have after market rims and tires put on but they have been all balenced and the tire size is 245/45/18 so I don't think that should cause a problem? I don't know where else to look to correct this?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys!
PS. There are no clips on the rotors, so I don't know where else to look?
Your description of the problem is spot on for a balance problem. If you feel the vibration more through the steering wheel it indicates a front wheel is out of balance. If you feel the vibration more through your posterior then it indicates a rear wheel is out of balance.
If you can, find a local shop with a Hunter Road Force Balancer. There is always a chance that a tire or rim is slightly out of round, causing the vibration. The Road Force can find and fix it if used correctly.
Wow found the solution it seemed as thou you must torque the lug nuts to specs I guess when the dealer uses the impact gun its not specific for a certain car and thus they just tighten it till its tight...So what did I do you ask? I searched the forums found that the lug nuts need to be torqued to 100ft.pds so I pulled out my torque wrench and did my magic and BAM no more wobble in the steering wheel so far!!! I will see when I take her out for a highway run at around 90 mph if it wobbles but I will post that later to come...
