Default Best initial performance mods

Hi guys, I got my C6 today and I LOVE it! It's not a Z06 so I'm looking for what are some mods that I can do to add some easy performance to the car (handling, power, etc..). The car does not have the Z51 handling kit on it (I bought it used at a great deal so I overlooked some aspects).

On the list:
- air intake (veraram)
- corsa exhaust
- sway bars
- tunnel plate (since i'm doing the exhaust, this is a easy one so why not)

Thanks!

Out of the ones on your list I think you would notice the most out of the Vararam and the sway bars. You should just go for the Z06 sway bars IMO.

I would wait on the tunnel plate till you do headers that way you save yourself some time there.

Catback exhausts don't do much for performance. If anything maybe 1-2 hp but nothing noticeable. It is all for sound. I do like the Corsa's though.

And IMO you should not use Zo6 sway bars as you will throw off your steering. Use Z51 sway bars

I have the Z06 bars and have had no issues with throwing of the steering. Had other guys drive it on the track that have Z51 bars and they stated it felt just a hair stiffer than theirs.

First mod should be the Vararam without a doubt!

Z51 sways with the poly bushings ($30) and the performance end links (not cheap at $130 to 200, but end links are the weakest part of the suspension).

add some Konis or Edelbrock Performer IAS series shocks if you still want a smooth ride.

Since performance is your criteria, I'd remove the Corsa from your list and add headers.

If you have an 08, the car typically gains 10 - 20HP from a good tune.

Common sense answer there.

I would agree as well. Mufflers are a great addition to change the look and sound of the car, but you are not going to see any where near the same power gains in both HP and TQ as what you will with headers.

Check out our Street Series, or even our Pro's.

Anthony is right. Do the headers. Best mod, hands down.

MGW shifter. If ya can't get the gear you can't put the power to the ground!

Here's my list of mods and my projected order. This is just my opinion based on my personal experiences as well as the altitude I live at. At 7K feet, there's not alot of O2 in the atmosphere so the more air I can get into my engine the better (Forced Induction (FI) seems necessary to produce 500+ non-corrected RWHP).

1) Cold Air Intake (either Vararam or other w/ open shroud)
- DONE: I hate the stock intake and shroud combo
2) FAST Intake Manifold
- DONE: HUGE Improvement
3) Gears (4.10 if M6) (3.42 if A6)
- Next: As I don't plan to drive over 160MPH, I'm less concerned with speed over 100MPH and more interested in acceleration below 90 MPH.
4) Headers
- Expected once the gears are in. Now that there's more air coming in, it might be a good idea to allow more to flow out.
5) If at some point I want to create sick amounts of power, I may go FI

Again, this is just my plan based on my location and personal preferences.

Good Luck on your choices and results!

Vararam,headers,160 t-stat,and tune would be my first chioce. Forget the exhaust as its for sound only. Thats if your looking for the best performance for your first round of mods.

air bridge, headers are without a doubt the first 2 steps you should take with any car.

Forgot to mention...

I also changed out the stock F55 sways for Z51 sways. I LOVE the change.

The SOTP change in feel was that upon loading to a certain amount of lateral G forces, the stock (F55) sways, let go and the car seemed to release laterally creating physically percieved body roll.

Now that the new Z51 sways are in place, it's solid in corners. I've tested this in up to 0.85Gs so far and it's been rock solid!

Thanks for your preference list. Does anyone else think FAST before 410's? Also, where does "ported" FAST fit in?
