Default DSOM Painted Calipers

Im in the process of painting these so how do you guys like them so far?

I do a high temp base coat, followed by the DSOM paint followed by high temp clear. A friend did his this way and its held up for a few years now.

Oh and as for the C5 wheels, Im taking the CCWs to Daytona to have new rubber and the lips repolished, so Id rather have the car sitting on these rather than jackstands.

Unpainted Drivers Side

Painted Passenger Side

Ill add more pics when im done and have the CCWs back on the car.

As far as I know same paint as the car. Thus a perfect match.
I don't race, so heat hasn't been a problem.

So you use regular base coat clear coat for the calipers and put it in a air gun to pain them?

Thanks guys! I ordered DSOM paint from GM and they gave it to me in a spray can, follow it up with a few coats of high temp clear and your good to go.

Wow, so you paint them with DSOM spray paint and then high temp clear?

Has anyone else done this? How does it hold up?

Looks good by the way. How much was the can by the way? What did you do to prep it? Did you take out the pistons in the calipers?

Yes spray then clear, my friend did this to his and its held up fine for a few years now, I wouldnt suggest racing the car though. I left the calipers on the car and painted them, just take your time and mask off the areas, the key to a good paint job is prep work.

I know prep is the key, but that was just my question, what did you do to prep it?

I used high temp base coat (black) after I cleaned the caliper. To clean I used duplicolor caliper cleaner.

So Duplicolor caliper cleaner, then black base coat, then GM DSOM paint, then high temp clear?

Is the black necessary/mandatory? Is it flat or gloss?

Oh ok. I was meaning does it need a base coat, not necessarily just black.
