i put a spec twin disc in my car. all was good for 60 miles and then i shifted form 1st to 2nd and felt a pop and clutch went to the floor. look under the car and it dumped all the brake fluid out of the system. so i get new slave put it in and back out of the drive. shift to first rool 50 ft go to shift to 2nd and pop...clutch to the floor...fluid dumps out...slave toast agian here is what it looks like:
i called spec. they say i may need a shim.....thanks but maybe not good enuff answer with $250.00 slaves and 8 hours work to swap them out. has anybody else seen this
I used the shim provided with my RAM and the clutch would not fully engage. So, I had to take it apart and try again. Worked ok without it. In your case it could be the answer as without it the slave piston has to travel too far out and blows the seal. However, I have not heard of anybosy else having to use one with Spec. Something sounds fishy.
If you need a slave for trouble shooting let me know I have a used one I can let ya borrow.
I have seen one set up cause the throw out bearing to wallow out and then drive the slave piston out too far. All the fluid urinated out like on yours. I can't see pics at work but I will take a look tonight at home and see what I can see. Is there any visible damage to the throw out?
I've done more clutch swaps than I care to remember... I feel your pain.
I asked about the the spec clutches in my own thread several weeks back.
I didnt get a single good thing said about spec. clutches period.
Sorry for your trouble.

We have had success with the twin specs. After the Tex twins were on back order we shopped around and did some research and found the spec twins to be very good. I ordered one for my RR car, but didnt put it in because we wanted to see how far a RR car could push the single Tex. So far with 565RWP / 540 RWTQ the single tex is holding with 7 track days this year and 15 last year (with my old H/C 346 460rwhp / 401 rwtq).
That being said we installed them in a bunch of cars and everyone only has good things to say so I am surprise you only got negative responses. Well its the internet not all of the corvette world so that might have something to do with it.
As a matter of fact Doug@ECS said to me today - "I thought I might never say this, but the Spec Twins are really nice". I guess they have made improvements over the years....
