Default AirAID cold air intake ??

As i was looking for an cold air intake for my ls3 I ran across this intake company AirAID for my ls3 @ only 280$ all others are 400$ plus. So i got one and i have to say that so far so good ! The install was very easy about 30min. The quality is great [made in the USA] Just thought i would pass this on for anyone looking for a cold air intake at a great price for there ls3.

i've considered this one but probably doesn't offer any better IAT's than stock

It's a nice unit and the price is better than most. I don't think it has the effect of ram air though.

it looks identical to the killer bee if you prop open the schroud what would the difference be?

"ram air" is a marketing gimmick that does not exist at the speeds your car will be going. The benefit of the "ram air" systems is that they'll be pulling air from under/infront of the car which will be ambient rather than hot from the engine bay.

I have logged my IATs with stock and with Airaid. Stock while moving will be about 5*+/- higher than ambient, with the Airaid my IATs read ambient. Of course at idle they go on up but somewhat slow than stock because of the dam with the Airaid.

That is NOT a "COLD" Air Intake. There is no provision for outside air, it's still pulling air from the engine compartment. It's just an expensive filter and air box.

If you are moving you are bringing in ambient air, not air from the engine bay. I've proved that via my HP Tuner log. After a short distance at speed my IAT lowers to ambient.
