Default drag car

I'm getting ready to start modding one of my vettes. I currently have a 08 ls3 A6 with long tubes, intake and tune. The car put down 430 rwhp. I also have a bone stock 01 A4 ls1. I want to build one of the cars for drag racing and can not decide which car would be a better platform to start with. What are your opinions on which car would hold up better supercharging and be cheaper in the long run? Is the tranny, rear end, axles stronger in the 08 or 01? My goal is a low 10 sec car on a moderate budget. Any help would be appreciated

I think the 08 would be cheaper to get it there and keep it there just my opinion though.

Well, yes and no. Including the cost of the cars themselves, no it is neither cheaper to get it there nor keep it there.
But already having both cars, from this point forward, it will definitely be cheaper to get the '08 into the low 10s than it would be to get the '01 there, especially considering that the '08 already has the slight head start on mods.

The A4 is cheaper to strengthen than the A6 is and has been proven to hold up to the rigors of higher power and racing (to an extent).
The C5 rears are a little cheaper to modify and are generally stronger (the Series 3 (3.15 & 3.42) carriers but not necessarily the Series 2 (2.73 gears) that is) as well.
But the big downside to the C5 is the smaller motor with the 241 heads, that extra .5L, stronger block and better flowing heads of the C6 will make it much easier to add power whether it be through forced induction, nitrous or even heads and cam.

I'd would use your 01. Its the lesser in value...since want to make a strip car out of it. The A4 is a better tranny for drag racing, the c5 is a lighter body.c5 halfshafts are better and the rears are cheaper to replace.

food for thought the 01, 402 stroker, rpm lvl VI tranny, built rear, direct port 300shot, cage, few other nic nacs low 6s 1/8 and mid 9s 1/4 at the track and can drive it to the supermarket when you leave the track
