Ok so after ordering the LED bulbs from one of the site vendors, I decided to replace the License Plate Light and Map Lights. As far as my background, I am not mechanically inclined what so ever. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being a master mechanic), I'm a 1.5 (don't even change my own oil and a buddy is going to lower my C6 for me this coming weekend).
The license plate bulbs were fairly easy. However, after trying unsuccessfully for over 15 minutes trying to get the stinkin map light bulbs out using my fingers, latex gloves (hoping for some traction) & needle nose pliers, my buddy came up with a very brilliant yet simple idea.
Get a 12" piece of string (I used kite string), tie a slip knot, push the string up into the furthest endd of the bulb, pull on the string that tightens the knot & pull it out. VIOLA!!!
Hope this helps those that have tried to get those bulbs out and ended up creating new cuss words in the process.
Good idea, I struggled with removal until I manged to get them out without indicent, LOL!
What's the best way to get the license plate bulbs out? I was afraid I'd break the plastic casing so I gave up for now...
Leave the plastic cover alone! There are two black star screws on each side of the license plate lights. Unscrew those and the entire housing will come loose. Then twist the back cover of the housing to get to the bulb.

I tried the EXACT same sequence to get mine out....
i bought a footlong peice of plastic tubing for 75cents at a hardware store then slipped it over the bulb to make a tight fit and then just pull it straight out. I actually got this idea from another forum member who said he used a rubber tubing to remove the lights. Also if ur not sure what size the tubing should be just bring in one of the lights when you remove them from the license plate ones and make sure the tubing is not too tight.

The size that worked for me was 1/2'' OD X 3/8'' ID clear plastic tubing from hardware store.
