If I wanted my money back for the tap/die set, I would have just taken them back to the store I bought them from. I do understand AR is saying they will refund the set, but my point is, if I hadn't of found this set at a parts store locally, my car would have been stuck on a friends lift until a new header came in!! I started my header install on a Fri. night, and because of this, I didn't finish my install until Sun. afternoon. I had employee's at my buddy's shop wondering and asking why a job I told them would only take about 4-5 hrs. took me an entire weekend. Besides if I had waited on a new header, I doubt it would have been in my hands until Tue, maybe Wed. Like I said, the bungs should have been checked before leaving AR.

I'm not knocking AR, but me sending the tap/die set to AR for a refund doesn't make me feel any better after wasting a whole weekend on 1 header install!!! It was a nice gesture, but wouldn't of helped me out much.

I was not happy, had to buy a metric tap/die set ($120) to fix something that should of been looked at before leaving AR......I guess they figure the HELL with quality control!!! Should of complained to AR, but just let it go. In answer to the original ?, you can't go wrong with Kooks.
Unfortunately something similar happen to a friend of mine (Non-Forum Vendor, Shop Owner) with AR headers 2 weekends ago. They were also Z06 headers. In this case it was a bad weld on one of the bungs. The threads were contaminated. He ruined an o2 in the process. He had an unhappy out of state customer that was up from MI for the Vette show in Carlisle on his hands.

Man, that sucks! Yeah, I almost ruined my 02 sensor trying to install it before I realized the bung had no threads. The threads on the o2's are very soft, luckly I had the tap/die set and was able to clean the threads on the o2 before I installed it. I guess everyone needs to check out their bungs before you start the install. I can tell you, I looked every where for the correct tap/die and couldn't find it......it is an odd size, that's why I was forced to buy a complete set! Since this happened to me, every set of headers I have installed since, I have chased/checked the threads in the bungs before I do the install!!

Depends on what you are doing....... LG has better mid range and the Kooks hold the power a little longer on the very top....

In my humble opinion....

Top end and 1/4 mile = Kooks
Road racing = LG

For the record, I have AR headers......

98ramair, Your situation was unfortunate. I wish I could have been more helpful or accomodating. My offer to reimburse you was made simply to ease the frustration. At ARH we never place dollar signs in front of customer satisfaction, ever. If we sell something that isn't right, we make it right regardless of expense. Yes, when you're moving product the way we are things can happen. Thankfully those things happen rarely.
Nightstalker, Your shop owner friend never reached out to us. Had he the problem would have been solved immediately. Regardless of the outcome PM me his name and number and I'll call him ASAP.

Kooks here. I got them over LGs because they were cheaper and, most importantly, because I could buy them ceramic coated (that is very important for me).
They fit perfectly and required zero modifications or hassle to install. I did the installation myself in a parking garage with the car up on jackstands; it was the first time I ever tried something like this on a GM vehicle and it still only took me 3.5 hours.
It was one of the best mods I've ever done to any car.

I have a set of kooks 1 3/4 headers currently on the car...

I am going this weekend up to LG to swap my headers for some LG headers. I will have some dyno sheets and other info about the two. It should be a nice little comparison. I just currently had the car dynoed and will have it dynoed again once the LG headers are on.

I should have a tech thread up by saturday night!

This will be a very interesting comparison. Is your before dyno from LG? What are your mods? Is the header swap and appropriate tune going to be the only change?

I'm talking with Louis about this right now.

I was just at LG this past weekend. I just did a before/after on a FAST 92 over the stock ported. I was hoping to do a full tech thread from the results of both the FAST and the LG header swap.

Although, Spin kind of already beat me to it and posted some of my results of my FAST!

I am a complete bolt on car. Everything minus gears... although, gears wouldn't do anything for me on the dyno.

My numbers are low... and I gained very little from the kooks headers, less than what was expected. Which is why I wanted to take part in this little endeavor of switching headers. I will let you know the results.

Like I said, full tech thread on Saturday night hopefully!

Nice. Be sure to include as much info as possible. This has been a long debated topic around here. Good luck.

Yes! I know! I wanted to try it out for myself and see how it goes... If I can get a good deal over at LG (Which I am sure I will, they are first class all the way!) then I will be doing it and letting everyone know the results.
