Installing headlamp washer
I am back with another newbie question

I would like to install the headlamp washer on my vette, that doesn't have it because it isn't an export model.
Here's a high level overview of the parts that I know that I have to install:

My question is regarding the headlamp washer pump, part number 6 on the schematic.
Now I've taken of the front liner of the car (succesfully thanks to your help
According to the schematics I have (4-276 for those who have the service manual) the headlamp washer should be on relay 46.
Now the interesting thing is that relay 46 is physically present in the fuse box

So here are my questions:
1/ Where is the wire from that relay? Is it physically installed and I didn't see it? I only have one washer pump installed and it's for the windshield. That I am sure of.
2/ If I find the wire, by some miracle, or install one. Can I just connect the headlamp washer or is there going to be some reprogramming involved?
3/ If I have to install a wire from the relay; has anyone done it before I take it apart?
Thanks in advance for any insight,
Cedric

According to the electric layout of the car, that wire should be in harness J101. I had a look at J101 where it was accessible and there is effectively a purple wire in it.
Apparently I did not look well enough at the washer reservoir. I will take another look this weekend, chances are that the purple wire is the correct one and does go all the way to the reservoir.
I will have to do a conductivity test though to ensure that it is the correct wire.
Additionally, from what I have read in the service manual, the BCM does activate the headlamp washer, every 4 requests.
So with a spot of luck I will have nothing to do but install the stuff, if that's the case I owe a big thanks to BG dudes ...

Cedric, who's off to bed now.
The reason being that I am here on a VISA and that one day I may have to go back home, i.e. France.
As I want to keep my vette, regardless if I stay or go back, I need to make sure it is euro compliant.
For that I have a couple of things to do, amongst others putting the headlamp washers.
I want to take care of this now, because if my company sends me back or my VISA doesn't get renewed, then I will have other things to do then take care of my vette.
So I might as well get it done now: never put off to tomorrow what you can do today.

Cedric
That thought is seriously lingering in my mind, but I would like to get the parts now and make sure everything is working. I like to minimize last minute issues
That being said, my wife is advising me to install the parts now, even if I don't connect them so that I get used to the look of the vette

I'm not sure, but after you install all the parts, you will probably have to take it to a dealer to get them to use a Tech 2 to activate the feature in your BCM. If that's the case, it might be easier to find a Tech 2 here than over in Europe.
I hope you can work out to stay here in the States!!!

Does anyone have a reputable shop they could recommend to me to get those parts?
I initially sent an email to Gene CULLEY, having no response, I called him up this morning and he told me, that he doesn't have the time to take care of my request ...
So if anybody has reputable alternatives, I'm interested.
Thanks,

Cedric

ps: I sent him an email because one of the parts (the headlamp washer pump) doesn't have a price and there was a "Ask for quote button"
I find that very hard to believe....everytime I talk to Gene he is more than friendly and takes the time to help me out.
I might also add that his website has a catalog with prices etc.
So I really do not understand why you are having an issue.
Well if you look here:
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0
You can see a small icon that states "Request Price", which I did by sending an email last week to him.
As for the rest, it's misunderstanding between him and I. I thought that he had sent me packing but in fact his phone was having issues. Problem fixed.

Well I have interacted with some people in the French Corvette Club and with a couple of American car import specialists in Paris.
All are adamant about the fact that French authorities will not let you register the car unless it has the headlamp washers for the Xeon lights and compliant rear tail lights (amongst other things).
I know that some European countries are less stringent than others, but if I register the car in Germany for example, I will have to go through the process in France anyway because the car is not of European origin ... this problem is faced by certain people who buy US imported Corvettes from Germany and bring them to France.
Of course I am aware of certain people who have been able to get away with it (lack of headlamp washers in particular), but I am not the sort of person to push something under the table. It will cost me less to put the washers in the first place anyway ....

But, with some luck this exercise will be futile, and the vette will never see France

Please note that all Corvettes sold in Europe by GM, i.e. those having a cover upfront, do have a headlamp washer system. The cover that is on the bumper protects the washer system when it is not in use. When you wash the lamps, the covers are pushed up by the washers.
The GM Service Manual states the headlamps are washed every four wash cycles of the windshield. So if you have a European Corvette it should be very easy to verify.
