ok, Who has hurt there a6's? I thinkk i broke the front pump (long story) but i want the entire trans gone through,, I talked to rpm, and they really did not want to give out much info,, i really need to know how much this might cost? AND HOW LONG THEY MIGHT HAVE IT??,, if this is going to get spendy quick, and be a very long wait, i might just get a used one out of a wrecked car,,, if you have had ANY experience with broken a6's, please chime in...
They are supposed to be tough enough for 600-700 FWHP. Dman, there was a guy on here selling one for $1400. Call TCI, about a month ago they told me they had a built one coming out.

With that kinda HP/TQ, you'll need an upgraded, HD A6. Most tuners warn that more than 500-600HP will kill the A6 repeatedly. Or , you could wait and see if GM offers the newer A6 fromt he CTS-Vs for sale by themselves, supposedly they are much more HD and shift better than the older version the vette has.

No tuner on this board will recommend that much HP for an A6. Most will caution against anything over 500 at the tires.
I'll let you know about the price of a re-build soon. MTI here in houston failed to bend my transmission lines far enough away from my LT Kooks. The lines were burned/rubbed through and pumped all the fluid out on my 200 mile drive to Austin. by the time I got to Austin I had MAJOR slippage in 1st gear. Not good.
Century transmission here in Houston has my A6 now. They're one of the only shops in Houston that will touch an A6. I was told there's really no way to beef them up yet. I should know something today or tomorrow.
On a different note, my car has about 550 rwhp and I didn't have any problems at all until this.

Luckily I noticed the lines rubbing my Kooks when the shop installed them. I had them bend them slightly but I still need to get them wrapped, they're real close.
mine has lived at this magic 500 hp number for a long time.. it is making 600 plus now, what broke it is the car s going though a MAJOR tuneing issue and down shifted and then shut off, thus locking up the rear tires while moving and I believe destoying the front pump.. It was NOT killed because of 2 much power... please keep me informed on this.. I am buying the unit being sold in the other section. I DO want to ix this one though.

The A6 in the new CTS-V is not a direct bolt in because it's a 6L90 which is about 35mm (or 1 3/8") longer than the 6L80 in the 'Vette. The front/rear bolt patterns are the same and I guess the torque tube/driveshaft could be shortened to allow it to fit between the engine and differential. But if there is only an extra inch of room forward of the transmission, it might as well be a mile longer unless you want to modify the transmission tunnel.
Updating Silverspeed. . .the costs of my A6 re-build by Century Transmissions was about $750.00. I burned out 3rd and 4th clutch packs. G-Force installed a 3200 Yank while the tranny was out. I'm picking it up today ahead of this hurricane that's about to hit. I hope it works as advertised!
