Default Big time trouble!

Went out today for a drive. Out of no where the car begins to sputter and misfire. Look in the rear view and smoke is rolling. Make it home to the garage and find oil dripping from exhaust tips and car now no longer starts. I know it's serious and need to try to come up with what appears to be a new engine. What options have I got, LS3, 402, 427? I would like to keep the blower though.

A fully forged LS3 with the blower would not be a bad option.... Sorta like an LS9 minus some of the goodies.

Make your decision after you do a teardown. There may be hope for your existing engine. Don't assume the worst. Good luck and sorry to hear about your misfortune

My guess is the LS9 is going to be one expensive item.

Hey Bruce,
Sorry to hear that happened to you this weekend. Let's hope that it's something minor and not a major repair for you. Were you getting on it at the time when the problem occured? Were there any noises prior to this occuring? Weren't you talking about getting yourself a LS7 CRATE MOTOR for that procharger??

Hey Charlie. I was just getting on the interstate, normal driving. I had thought about a different motor but didn't really want to spend money unnecessarily. I guess I'll have it shipped to ECS and have them check it out. This sucks!

Bruce

I feel your pain. As you know I had to replace my engine in June. Got a 402 from Texas Speed. Check out their website

http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/

Good people, good service, good pricing, anything you want.

I put the 402 in mine, the AFR heads and the D1SC fit perfectly.

It you go bigger, definitely get the new Procharger radiator cradle. The larger displacement does create more heat. It lowered my water temp from 220 to 196 in in-city driving. I'm also putting a Mezier electric water pump on, when sitting in traffic on hot days the water temp rises to 220.

Also, I'm adding an 8 rib pulley, the 402 puts out too much HP for the standard Procharger pulley set up. As Jeremy from Horsepower Sales told me, my car was doing a burnout in the front

Good luck and keep us posted.

Jeff

Thanks guys. Living in WV doesn't leave too many options as this isn't a hot bed for high-po cars. I hope ECS is a good choice.

I actually had my blower installed in Sterling almost 3 years ago, but he's out of business now.

I would have shut her down... Did you have oil pressure or are there any other symptoms?

That would be the first shop I'd call.

I had good oil pressure. The damage had already been done. Putting my car on a flatbed would be tough, so I drove it home. Luckily I wasn't far away.
