Is it neccessary from time to time to add injector cleaners thru the gas to keep injectors clean?
Also in emergency situations where there is no premium fuel can you add a octane booster (Lucas or others) to regular gas to make up the difference?

Necessary? No, not as long as you use "tier 1" gasoline. If you store your car over the winter, you might want to look for a "fuel stability" product, however.

You can, but it wouldn't be something to rely upon on a regular basis. For the LS2,LS3 premium is recommended, not required. For the LS7, it is required.

An occasional bottle of Techron will keep your injectors clean as well as scrub the contacts on your fuel senders. Not a bad thing to do every 6 months or so.
If you have to use regular the car will automatically default to the "low Octane" timinmg map, so no big deal other than reduced performance..

Agree. No additives are recommended if you use a tier 1 brand but a bottle of Techron is fine once is a while.
Many members use only 87 with no problems other than reduced preformance.
I can't relate to those members. Most members I know, look to get optimum performance out of their corvettes, hey, it's a sports car isn't it??
I like to add a bottle of techron, now and then, and notice the difference. I also add a can of Torco to each tank, but I guess I would be on the opposite end of the spectrum of the 87 users...
91 Octane doesn't mean it has the cleaners in it. Techron is the best and probably only one that actually works. Years ago, Volvo wanted to sell it at their dealers as it was the only thing they found that actually worked as claimed.
The off brands remove the cleaner and then sell it back to you. The good guys have it as part of their formulation. Chevron is the maker of Techron. It's in their gas. I use Sunoco at present.

I'm not sure if they still do but back a few years ago Porsche and BMW also recommend Techron.
One thing to be careful of - some of the products say they 'contain' Techron - personally I'd only use 100% Chevron Techron concentrate. Who knows what % of Techron the other stuff really has in it....

All gas has cleaners in it, even 87 octane and "off brand". Some companies (Chevron, Shell, Texaco, etc) add more but all gasoline is formulated with a minimum amount of cleaners. The car companies worked with the refinery companies in the '80s due to problems with fuel injectors getting dirty/gummed up from deposits which came from the gas. In the '80s, it was a real problem with "dirty" injectors but it's very rare today due to the detergents formulated into our gas even at the "cheapy" gas station all the way down to 87 octane. The fuel injection cleaning service today is like the 3000 mile oil changes today...a carry over from the "old" days when it was absolutely needed but simply not required now. A majority of the "fuel system cleaning" services today consist of hooking up a can of "cleaner" to the PCV or brake booster hose and running the solution through the engine. The only thing it cleans is the intake manifold and cylinder head ports which has zero impact on how the engine runs...in other words it does nothing for the fuel injectors. They do put a $5 can of fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and for this you usually pay $80-$100...biggest scam going in the auto repair market.
octane boosters are a huge waste of $$$$$ and only give you fractions of an octane # improvement.....
jsut drive conservativley and don't get on it until you can top up with premium after buying regular...

You obviously haven't done any research on Torco. jbsblownc5 can explain the benefits of Toco on Forced Induction or even on advanced timing and hot ambient temps.
My SRT4 Stage 2 (2.4 L, 300 FWHP) required 100 Octane, the most cost effective way to get it was Torco. One 32 oz can of Torco in 10 gallons would work on all but the 95°+ days in Austin.
