Finally got the Split Spokes

Well, not really...I helped, but I didn't do the actual painting. I have been looking for a set of 08 Comp Gray Split Spokes. Of course, I passed on a few sets, but when I was ready, there were none to be found. So I bought a set of silver in great shape from a fellow forum member Mike, JSB LS3. A few guys had asked me how I was going to do the change, so I thought I'd share. Ed (Pipedreams) stopped by the shop to see the finished product and gave me a thumbs up, so I take that as a BIG compliment, considering Ed is a perfectionist and wouldn't hesitate to laugh at me if they weren't perfect.
Want to laugh? The first use of GM's paint code WA9243 - interestingly enough, this color has been around since 1987 when it was an exterior color for a Chevy Corsica

Ready for cleaning, acid wash and scuffing

Cleaned and ready for prep

Here's the Comp Gray code in the DuPont book

Here's the formula...amazing what goes in to make "gray"

Barrels painted and cleared for easy cleaning and good looks

Painted, cleared and drying

Talk about flake popping in the sun, wish you could see these up close

They'll be mounted up in a day or two, but this will be the end result, a sinister looking DSOM

A special thanks to one of my closest friends, John whose skills and shop create beautiful work like this frame off restoration, made this all possible. If anyone wants or needs some of this magic, drop me a PM.

.I happen to have a set on hand
I did the same thing bought the comp gray cent
ers at the dealer. Then found a powder coating shop and said match the gray centers.
I bet they really do look great in the sun. I have the stock gumbies on mine as well. I can't quite figure out why so many don't seem to like them?

Whenever I wax, I allways take the time to polish up the rim's too. The General had a lot of metalflake in the stock silver paint, and it reaaly show's when you take the time to polish them. Add Meguires tire detailer spray, and you got a killer looking combo,........... w/ AO paint!
