Would there be enough room to run an air duct hose of some type from the ac vents in the console down to blow on the cup holder? I know there's not much room in there so it may even have to come around and up from the bottom. I've been thinking about trying it but haven't had time. This would at least keep the cupholder cooler. Just a thought.

if you really need a cup holder that will not heat up there is a cup holder that hangs off the side of the console. may be somebody could chime in w/ the link I can't seem to find the supplier.

I tested my car tonight, it was 72 degrees out and my cup holder and console was about 82.

When I first got my LG longtubes with high flow cats and Flowmaster mufflers along with Vararam intake. i Installed the Elite Thermal Abs tunnel plate. I had my car tuned at Rocky Mountain Corvette in Denver, CO. They totally screwed up my car and had the tune off so far that it would turn my leg red against the console and was very uncomfortable. I knew that the high flow cats and headers would produce more heat but it was ridiculous!! I later had it retuned at another shop and it took care of the heat issue. on a really hot day it gets a bit warm but not bad at all. I keep gum and mints in my console and they do not melt. I am really happy with the thermal abs tunnel plate! Plus it is twice as thick which is supposed to make the car more rigid.

I did this using 2 OEM tunnel plates with a 1/8" spacer in between. Helped some for reducing the RATE of heat build-up but eventually the console gets just as hot as before.

the heat is normal and remember you acutally have the tranny right next to you nevermind the exhaust... the transmission is i would say about a foot away (and behind) your *** literally..... its gonna heat up no matter what.... it is quite toasty though i agree.... what about putting that heat wrap on the exhaust think that would help?

Normally during my short daily driver runs mine isn't too bad. BUT...after our 3000mi trip to the Smokys several weeks ago I had many sodas get hot not to mention my right leg. It seemed to be worse in the mountains when the speed was 35-45 mph and we had the windows down or top off (weather was 60's-70's in the mountains). At that speed it was really bad. AC was the only way to make it semi reasonable.

Anyhow, I've now experienced the "really hot" center console syndrome.

I wonder if the first shop put the plate on up side down, It is real easy to do if you have not done it before.
