you would improve your 60 ft times a lot if you went with a gear to
help the launch, you already have great hook up, so gear would get you were you want to be, then if you decide you want more do the converter.
you would be going thru the traps in mid to high 4 th gear
good luck in making the right decision!!!

Go for the 3600, you'll love it and it is extremely streetable too.

wouldn't you agree that a gear will help a lot more than a converter??
he has great hook up, great mph, 60 ft times is the downfall, he's still in 3rd gear at the traps. what gear are you in wnen you go thru the lights?
your 3.42's make a big difference, don't you think?

the gear would help but the converter is better first, the reason to get into the peak tq range at the launch, gears still have to build to that range. example tonyb4

So from your expirience, trapping in 3rd is better than 4th?

Great runs man! 127 mph trap is solid!

Throw a higher stall in it and you will be clicking off 10's easily.

Thanks for all the comments and info guys! I thought that going through the traps in 3rd in these cars is a good thing. I still have about 2-400 rmp left at the traps before it'll shift into 4th. The first time I tried drs, it did shift into 4th and killed the mph down to 121-123mph running the same ETs with a slightly better 60ft than what I ran this weekend. I think if I went with a converter, I'd probally have Jeff raise the shift points on 1-2-3 and still be able to go through in the meaty portion of 3rd.

it sounds like a gear would help you more than a converter, IMHO
after seeing your run that's what I would do, what gear are you in at the traps??
No way...Converter > Gear

I agree with Dennis - look at the numbers that Tony's getting with stock gears.

I go through the traps in 4th gear.

Nice. I have not run mine yet, just got it tuned and everything. Mine is an a4 though w/3.15 gears and a yank stall, put down 458 sae. I'd go with the converter first and see where that gets you.

yes shifting 1 less shift is better, that is a plus. also an extra shift can put you threw the power band again usually before the hump and after, that extra shift would put you before the hump once shifted, then you would cross the finish line before peak, and however long you were in fourth would actually slow you down

That is of course assuming you have the option of staying in 3rd for the entire run which I don't in my car because of the 3.42 gears.

My car shifts into 4th at 96mph with the tach at 6600RPM so I couldn't stay in 3rd even if I wanted to as I'd hit the rev-limiter before the traps.
