Coil Relocation Re-Visited
Anyway, somebody had asked me for a diagram of the way I set up my coils and I wanted to share one. Its about $35 in parts and all you need is a welder. At first I said you did not need new wires, but since then I have decided I'm more confortable with 2, 2" longer wires because of where the brackets are mounted. They mount in the holes above the exhaust manifolds in the heads. Again, not for everyone but I was asked.
Parts List
12" of .5" boxed tubing
12" of 2" wide steel plate. I forget the gauge
2' of threaded rod
16 chrome acorn nuts and washers
8 nuts to fit threaded rod
6" .25" pvc pipe for spacer
4 .5" alm spacers between head and bracket
4 bolts for bracket to head
Everything except the chrome parts is available at Lowes or Home Depot. None if this is going to make sense unless the diagram gets hosted. If I could weld better I'd make them for ya. I'm getting there though

Only issue I see is the plug wires. Making the harness longer is no big deal. Since I run custom wires I can have them any length I want. If you were doing thsi on the cheap, I would suggest making your own wires with a Taylor 8.8mm kit and some appropriate boots and sleaves.
Keep in mind there is a bunch of different ways to do this, and you can go with various different methods from here. This should get you started, its simple and it works. On my car I could not find a suitable mounting point off the motor so this is why I did this. I had another, mammoth of a bracket but it was ugly and probably not required. I actually dreamed this solution and so far, it works pretty good. Most of the bracket is hidden so if you bubblegum a weld it doesn't matter.

But the anchor attachment was existing bolt holes on head - direct heat conduction - that is something you might want to avoid! Coils will get hotter than directly mounting on top of the valve covers!
Unless you are not concern with heat?
