Default Strange happening....HELP!

Just had a LUK "gold" clutch installed in my Cartek modded 05' (see SIG below). This is a head/cammed car. The clutch came with a lightweight aluminum flywheel. The local dealer with a good tech who I know did the install. The car ran fine the previously 2 years. Drove around a few miles to break the clutch in (normal driving). Coming to a stop, I put the clutch in (with the foot off the gas obviously) and all of a sudden THE CAR STARTED RACING THEN IT BEGAN TO BILLOW MASS QUANTITIES OF SMOKE). This had to be clutch smoke. Only thing I could do was turn her off, which took about 15 seconds. The 'SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM' immediately came on. The car ran a little strange after I restarted it but had full power. After another restart, the check light went off. ANY THOUGHTS???????

Nope, but it seems very, very odd.

Let us know when you get it figured out.

Thanx for the reply. Any chance that the 02 sensors on the CATS were put on backwards?

It was at night time but the smoke was white. Problem is that I don't remember what smell it had. I assume if it was clutch, it would have stunk pretty bad.

If I remember right, when I put my first clutch in it was pretty early in the C6 modding... 2005. Nobody knew that you did not have to use the spacer with the RAM clutch and I found out the hard way. No smoke, but it was not engaging properly. I too got a traction light which I attributed to the engine RPMs being way off from wheel speed. Clutch was slipping and motor reving faster than wheels turning. It clicked in my melon and I realized the install was wrong so I had the pleasure of doing it again, sans spacer, and all was well. (Did give the vendor a nasty call with a few, " ya think you can modify your instructions" explicatives. They said the spacer was required).

So, I would bet the clutch failed somehow. How is tough to say. Slave went tango uniform and through the pressure plate or something. Don't laugh, I've seen one get wedged in the plate. I think you are gonna have to tear her down and take a look see.

Apparently the problem has been solved. It was some sort of vacuum leak but I'm not sure if it was something that happened while the clutch was changed or if a hose fell off as I was driving. I still don't know where the smoke came from.
