I've had the problem off and on for three years. When the C6 was new it only did it once and awhile. Now it's on more than off so it's time to take it in. My warranty expired in April and I have the GMPP so hopefully that will cover it.
Mine came on once about a year ago. It would come and go then I raised both seats to get my hands on the electrical connections. I did not unconncect them and reconnect but simpley squezzed them so that they were seated well. One year later the light has not returned.
Happens to me ever now an again. There is a connector under the rear of the driver seat that apparently goofs up occasionally. I wiggle the connector and the problem goes away - for a while. Easy way to check if this is your issue is to move the seat up-down back and forward a bit and see if the light goes out.
Happened to me last month, I dunno why but here's what I did..
disconnected the battery for 30 minutes - connect it again and no air bag light
pretty common thing. The ecm does a circuit check,,, kind of like checking for resistance with an ohm's meter.
There are Alot of connectors in the airbag system and some moisture or corrosion will cause a code flagged.
Disconnecting the battery resets things so try that first,,,if still on you got a hard problem generally a impact sensor issue, which once again is usually just a water or corrosion problem at that sensors connector. good luck.

I've played with all the connections under both seats and the steering wheel one also. Sometimes that will help for awhile but it always comes back. I have been waiting until it stays on long enough to show the dealer and I think it now time.

My air bag light has been coming on the past few weeks. Have not checked the connectors yet, but it comes and goes so it has to be a loose connector somewhere.

I just had the same happen in my 07 C6; turns out that it was a fuse, so you might want to check it out. I'll have to look at the service order (car still under warranty) to tell you the exact fuse.
same problem here. It comes and goes only when I have a passenger w/ me. the chances that the dealer can find the problem is slim to null. I had my wiz kid electrical guy look at it and he can't find it. I guess I'll just chalk it up to a ghost in the machine until it stays all the time and then I can get someone to hook up a diagnostic computer to it

move the seat forward all the way - the harness you can see underneath is for the seat belt pretensioner. if the harness is damaged, which seems to be common, it is easy to see and repair - ignition off! the pretensioner works by explosive charge, like the airbag
My wife’s 05 airbag light came on, so she had it diagnosed by a local shop – for free – code DTC B0065 & 66. They said take it to the dealer, which she did, Superior Chevrolet, who had previously (and quite generously imo) fixed her driver seat upholstery. They told her “we’ll work with you” when she asked about a fix. The first I heard about the whole thing was when she called and told me the story and asked if I would pick her up since they said it would take a long time and be about $300. When I went to get her they told me it was “under the dash” and I could not watch them fix it, after I said that I suspected that they may have hurt the seatbelt pretensioner wiring while working on the seat. I was getting a bad vibe and told them I was going to take the car now. They said it would be $93 for a diagnostic charge – when she had already given them the diagnostic sheet from the other shop. I was having none of that and they begrudgingly let me go. I got home and read this thread and found that a wire under the seat had been broken – I could see where the loom cover had been pinched and investigated per the suggestions here. I soldered in a patch and all is well – no airbag light on the dash! I went and drove the **** out of it to pay myself back – what a cool car!
Thanks for the great suggestions – especially UDRIVESLOW- really nice people on this forum! Saved me at least $300!

+1 That's what happened with my '05, though it wasn't as reproducible by just moving the seat.
Had this problem a few years ago on my 2006.. Connector under driver seat has a clip that attaches the wire bundle to a cross bar under the seat. When the seat moves forward and back for the entry exit, it would catch on the carpet and roll the connector.. causing a bad connection/loose wire in the pins.. after repairing that.. the light came on again.. dealer found that there is a TSB for the belt pretentioner.. a charge that tightens the belts when an airbag blows.. Both passenger and driver pretentioners were replaced.. two plus years and no airbag light..
I had this problem on mine off and on over the last 3 years. took it to a dealer, they did "something" and it was OK for awhile. Then it started again. Looked under the rear driver seat and determined that the connector was too tightly tied to the seat frame with a plastic tie. It restricted any movement at all. I cut the tie and have had no problems ever since.
