Default Rear Hatch Release...

Hey Guys...I am having problems with the "hidden" rear hatch switch on my '05 Coupe. When I press the "hidden" switch by the rear license switch, all I get is a weak clicking sound in the area of the dash panel. All the other methods works just fine, the switch under the dash on the drivers side and the one on the key fob...NO PROBLEM! Any ideas? TIA for your help!

Do you have your fob on you when you are pushing it? That clicking sound you hear is the RCDLR checking for a fob. If it detects the correct fob, it sends a signal to the BCM, which grounds the relay in the passenger footwell, which sends 12v to the hatch release.

Have someone else hold the fob back there and push the button. See if you can hear the relay click in the passenger footwell.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, the fob is in the ashtray where I always keep it.

try taking it with you to the back of the car.

if no help, replace batery in fob, try it again...

if no help, i don't have other ideas, the button itself seems to work since you get the "clicks"

Take the fob to the back of the car with you and try the 'hidden' button again. I don't know that having it in the cupholder is close enough.

What we said.

You have to take the fob to the back of the car. It won't work with the fob in the cup holder.

There are 4 antennas in your car:

1. just beside the slot next to the glovebox
2. next to the fuel lid door in drivers quarter panel
3. in the same place as above on the passenger side
4. behind the hatch/trunk release

Put the fob in your pocket, walk back to the rear of the car and push the button. The antennas on either side allow you to open your doors, the antenna by the glovebox allows you to start your car and the one in the back lets you open the hatch.
