With the Bose system, the 10 inch woofers in the doors have some kind of built-in amplifier. From What I understand, they receive a low level signal(crossed over too high) from the amplifier in the passenger foot well.

Has anyone ever added an amp in the footwell, and then put some kind of 10" thin subwoofer in the doors? There is plenty of space there for a thin mount sub from Sony or Pioneer. If so, do you need and additional crossover for these woofers? Thanks for any advice.

Doors make for god-awful sub enclosures. If you put a REAL sub (as opposed to the pieces of crap that both the Bose & Delco are) you'd need to use real power, which would turn your doors into massive rattle traps. Can you do it? Sure. Should you do it? Heck no. That space is far better off being used for a good midbass in a component system.

If you want to add real bass, look into adding a good sub in an enclosure in the rear (of a coupe, a vert is a nightmare). And I agree on visiting the audio section. Link to the C6 audio FAQ in my sig.
