Default Installed the VMAX Ported Throttle Body tonight

Actually, this afternoon. Install was relatively easy. Would have been ridiculously easy if not for the throttle body spacer I already had from the Vararam kit. Had the piece installed in probably 10-15 min, taking my time cause the engine was still kinda hot from driving in the morning.

After the install, I went out and tested it. I'm not sure if I can feel any sotp gain, as the likely 7-10hp on top of the ~436+ that's already there is not a large percentage

however, throttle response is improved, and there were absolutely no driveability issues.

I went out to the nearest freeway onramp and nailed it in first gear, and the car got SIDEWAYS before the traction control shut it down I have not had the car do that before the throttle body install...so that was kinda cool. It's like the power just HITS, now.

If this part was $500, I'd say pass on it, but for $150, it's a solid mod

oh, and this is on my 08 c6 coupe, 6mn, with vararam & magnaflows

Yep, I undid the throttle body from the intake hose, then took out the 4 screws, then unplugged the one 1 harness.

I have also ordered this unit. I hope it will compliment my cam install.

when you get it, you'll notice a page-long disclaimer about how certain cams may not mesh with this product...my initial thought was just that they are covering their butts, but there might be some real merit to it...might be worth checking into with them

I installed mine 2 days ago. With my mods you do feel that the throttle response is better. I have not done any WOT runs but initially I didn't feel any SOTP gains but the dyno says about +10 HP which is the cheapest 10 HP you'll find IMHO. Well worth the 139.00 bucks. I'm going to take my car back to ECS in the next 2 weeks just to have them check the AFR. The VMAX TB is only suppose to change the AFR .1-.2 so it should be fine without adjusting the tune but I never mind stopping over at ECS.

i've been intrigued to try one of these, but i thought i've heard many times in the past that porting drive by wire throttle bodies usually ends up being a disaster?

i'm not saying it'll be a problem, i just wonder why that used to be said and why it isn't an issue now

Not sure, but I had one in my ls1 car and it was absolutely fine. So far, I've not had a hiccup from the ls3 one, either

did you re-use the tbody gasket? does he ship them with the TPS/DBW unit intact or do you swap yours over?

My throttle body doesnt have a gasket...just the spacer that came with the Vararam.

The piece you receive is not just the throttle body itself, but the entire unit that you just swap your electronics plug-harness into.

I think what you are refering to are DIY porting jobs. I have had mine two weeks now and it has been working flawlessly and beleive me I have been putting it through its paces.

any idle or fuel trim problems? any change in light load low rpm drivability? anyone logged after installation?

sorry to be so **** about this, but i feel the stock car is sooooo perfect to drive daily with a little tuning that anything that would introduce ANY negative drivability would be out for me
