Well said. I am a perfect example. I have owned many corvette's and when you put some nice mufflers or an exhaust system on the car, you instantly get a sensation of the car being faster, when, in reality, it is no faster at all. It is your senses that make it seem faster, a.k.a. a louder exhaust or a firmer shift on the transmission. I am not saying the A6 does not shift BETTER, I am sure it does, but does it make the car faster? Only the track will tell the story.
My car ran 12.52 DEAD STOCK.... after I got a Dyno tune, & Vararam it ran 12.21 @ 114.. So there are REAL # Not SOTP for anyone to see how much a Dyno tune can do... I'm taking it to Atco at a track rental this Thurs, Cartek will be there to make more adjustments if needed... as running a car on a Dyno and on a track are like night and day.. ( on a Dyno the Vararam will not get the forced air it gets at 70-80-100 mph on the track.. also they can look and see what the Torque Management is doing on a launch.. I want to know if its better to spin the tires 1/2 revolution to avoid the TM from killing timing.. or will it be OK with DEAD HOOK... we can try various settings at a track rental with a laptop hooked up...
I fully expect my car to be running in the 11's with a few minor changes...
I am a big Chuck fan. I was standing with him when two Corvette engineers came up to him at the C6 Bash and asked him how he was able to get so much more performance out of a C6 tune. It was funny listening to Chuck tell the Corvette engineers how to tune the LS3.
Chuck did my 08 A6 tune last week also. Huge difference from the 07 he had in place previously, which I thought was great. It is less obvious that something is going on here when you're at normal start, taking it easy. Not as radical as we had it set up before. Everything just works so much easier. You cannot believe the difference between this and a stock set up. I love the way it is so docile when you want it to be. I do have a Honker in place, with Kooks, Chuck's 3.15's. This thing is an absolute animal, and so much fun now. It will still burn the tires with the traction control on. In the comp mode, it is sideways in the first three gears. I took my work buddy for a ride yesterday. He is an old '60s muscle car guy, ( Corvettes, Shelby, 440 Plymouth ). Has been out of the hobby since then. He was speechless. He never thought the cars these days were anything like this. Much faster than anything he drove back then. This is money well spent for anyone thinking of a tune, and worth the trip to see Chuck.
