Default 110 Octane

While filling up my truck noticed a local Shell has a Sunoco pump with 110 Octance race fuel. I have a stock 05 with 18500 miles, would a few gallons mixed with 93 octane have any plus's or minus's. Just curious.

Just waste your money. Does your car ping under hard acceleration or load? If not, it is of little use.

No pluses... unless you tune for it and use it 100% of the time. Also, every 110 octane pump I've seen is leaded fuel.

Don't run leaded fuel, it'll corrode EVERYTHING in your motor

100 octane is UN-leaded, still no benefit in a street car unless spending 3x more a gallon is perceived as a benefit

Thanks for the reply's. No I am able to get 93 octane all the time in Chattanooga, Tn. I was just curious if there might be any advantages to mixing a few gallons with the 93. No I have never had any pings or knocks. Thanks again, won't waste my money on it, it was just a little over 7$ a gallon to. I am not sure about the leaded part.

Leaded fuel will foul the O2 sensors and reduce plug life, but other than that no detriments to the engine. Yes, we have it at the pump here in PHX in a couple of places along with 100 no lead. With our garbage 91 octane mix out here the 100 unleaded does wonders when mixed with pump gas, but it's cost is prohibitive for anything other than track use.

Citgo has carried 110 Octane fuel in Michigan ever for as long as I lived there. It was called "Turbo Blue 100" and, like all other 110 octane gasolines it was leaded.
Putting some of that in your street car will net absolutely ZERO benefit, but it will poison your catalytic converters, ruin your Oxygen sensors, and leave deposits behind on your combustion chamber...
When I lived in Michigan I actually ran a gallon every full tank on my Subaru... One of the tricks up my sleeve for pushing 22PSI on 9.3:1 compression. I had no cats (oh-oh!), but it killed Oxygen sensors every 3-6 months or so... Lots of deposits too.. I'd avoid it. If you NEED high octane, there are plenty of unleaded options out there

Where else in the valley has 100 besides the Loves station by Firebird. I use 100 all the time its cheaper to fill up the Z with race fuel than to fill up my Hummer with reg.

They are expensive, too much imo. But I didn't have alot of time to shop it around. I've installed one before but it was a fair amount of agony and I wasn't in the mood to try it again.

Does Torco contain lead?

I think alky injection has the pluses all around and will also get you some power from having a cooler intake air charge and being able to run more timing. Charlie at RPM motors has a kit for N/A cars. I hear its about 500 bucks which eventually is a lot cheaper than race gas.

Torco is almost entirely MMT. And you can buy about 30000 miles worth of driving with Torco in your tank for the cost of a Methanol injection kit installed... Before you even account for the cost of the Methanol.

Not only that but I don't see a single argumentative post or even a derogatory statement towards the OP. I think he may have misdirected his soap box rant in the wrong thread.

And if you scroll down to the Related Threads, the thread in which his post would fit is 7 years old.

That gas is sold by a Sunoco near an airport near me...... for the powered ultra-light aircraft, high powered boaters, older muscle cars, and off roaders. Almost never for any modern car, according to an attendant I spoke to years back
