hey guys,
i am having my rear w/b kit put on this weekend, getting zo6 repos with 345's in the rear, and my calipers painted..while its in the shop i decided to eaither lower the car, or do shocks, or coilovers
i do not know much about doing this so which is the best to do in the ballpark of 1,000? which is the best for proformance? and lastley, what brand is the best?
i have one day to decide on this so any help is great
With a $1000 budget you can't afford coil overs. That leaves regular shocks. I know of two, Koni's and PFADT (adjustable). Koni's are a little cheaper, but the best deal I've seen is low $600. The PFADT's are almost $900 if I recall. You won't go wrong with either.
what is the difference between shocks and coilovers? if i do shocks and save up for coilovers would i need to replace the shocks? or can i always add the coilovers to the shocks?
my goal here is to lower the car, and im trying to see if i can add proformance by doing this and how much more will it cost me because i could always just use lowering bolts

Just shocks will still use the already installed transverse leaf springs front and rear. With coilovers, these leaf springs will need to come out. Coilover shocks are an assembly with the shock and spring built together. You can not buy new shocks and then just add the coils later. They are not made that way. I think the coilovers will cost you around $1600 and then there is the labor to install and remove the leaf springs, if you are not doing the work yourself.
If your only real goal is to just lower the car, I would lower the stock bolts first and see if you get the look you are after. If not, you can then go to aftermarket bolts.
I think for the sake of the CF community you will have to go out and dump the clutch at 4k rpm to see what happens and report here with your finding on that wheel hop

To late. That car is back in the garage with the tires off. I bought a set of BBS Wheels and plan to have the tires mounted this week on them.
