Default Window stuck all the way down

After putting the new engine in my car it needed a battery. Replaced battery and now window is stuck all the way down and wont roll up. It makes a click when the switch is pushed up or down but the glass doesnt come up. Any thoughts?

Its an 05 with 26k on it.

Get in the car, start it, close both doors and roll the windows all the way down, then all the way up.

I had the same issue. These cars are nightmares when the batt voltages get weak. I got the click, only on the drivers side mind you, no movement. Passenger side worked fine. Can't be battery right? Wrong. Fresh battery and everything worked like a champ. I could awe and amaze you with the wierd thing my car does when the battery gets weak. Even when the old one was fully charged it sometimes freaked out. Optima in there now and so far so good.

Everytime I get a strange electrical gremlin I try to change out the battery first. 9 out 10 times it fixed it right up. It is completely counter-intuitive sometimes as in your click. But, try that first. If not its a regulator but I'd bet mama's paycheck you have a weak battery like mine.

I noticed you said you replaced the battery. Another thing I expereinced while doing this is that it took some time for the car to "reset". Again, this makes no sense but it would not do anything right for some time, then just fixed itself. This phenomina also applied to the active handling system and ABS. Freaking out all over for some time. That window had to sit over night, then poof! it just worked. I got the same sick clicking noise you did. Let us know!

The doors are shut when you are trying to do this? I notice here when the battery has been shut off the window looses thought of where top and bottom park position is on the glass and will not go up, but they go down. The door has to be shut for it to roll up because it needs the top to know where to stop. If it was a convertible I'm sure the top would have to be up as well. They would not move at all if the door was open.

Check the fuses in the panel as well.

If after all of this it will not move, the last resort is to use a Tech II and use it to manually over ride the switch.

If after that, it still does not move then there is something inside the door that as either moved or is not correct.

Just being a battery replacement I think it has just lost it's idea of where the glass is in relation to full up or full down.

Sounds like either a bad switch or bad window motor(may have a dead spot).

Not too sure about this, but you may want to take door panel off and apply 12 volts to the motor contacts. This may or may not work.

Sorry I didnt reply faster, I just moved again and using my friends computer that Im using now is quite frankly a piece. I can read the pm that you sent me Anthony but I cant reply to it for some reason. Thanks a ton for caring and following up with me. Means a lot. I'll post more once I get internet again.

Same thing happened to me. Fixed itself after sitting overnight with a new battery. Old thread to the rescue. I love this forum.
