Default engine mods and emissions?

Hi all,
I have a 08 C6 LS3 A6. I would like to install headers, free low cats, a 160 thermo, CAI and then get a tune. I do realize that by doing all that it blows my warranty on the drivetrain to hell. The question do I have, will I have a problem passing the New York State emissions inspection?

Thanks,
Mike

I am not sure how the laws are up there in NY... But, there are plenty of places around here that don't even use any kind of sniffer or anything when getting inspected, and most ppl call Texas a relatively strict inspection state. Me and a buddy both do not have cats and still pass inspection. As long as you show no CELs and everything works properly, you pass.

Also, your warranty is not "technically" voided. It is all about who you know and where you go. If I were you, I would find a mod friendly dealership and/or GM tech!

Technically your car will be in violation of emissions regulations laws in every single state of the union; the law says you can absoluely not move the location of the stock catalytic converters, and headers will certainly do that.
That said I think your likelyhood of getting caught is very small, and a well tuned car will pass the sniffer test despite having headers if you have high flow cats...

I would check with a couple of the tuners on this forum, both in New York state and adjacent. I think they will give you a good and accurate prediction since they work on this every day.

I think in NYS they just "jack in" to a port and read the computer. there isn't a sniffer used on late model cars. the earlyer ones go on a dyno like system with a sniffer jamed up the tail pipe.
