I was wondering if its worth getting custom headers made with an xpipe from a muffler shop? I have a very good muffler guy who would charge me half the price of kook headers. How are the gains if I do a custom setup, or is it better just buying a kooks header setup instead? Thanks
Should would be nice to be able to buy a set of hedders for half price. I remember buying a set of new hedders for a small block Chevy back in the 70's for $39.95. Anyway, the difference, as I see it, between your muffler man and a reputable manufacture, is that the company has a lot of R&D put into their product and you know the quality of workmanship and basically how much HP your going to get. Your muffler man who is just going to bend up some pipe and make it fit prob isnt the best way to go. Now, I suppose there are some really good muffler men out there.......will he give you a lifetime guarantee......
Since no one has a clue as to what your custom headers look like, you need to dyno the car to see what kind of power they make. Oh, the dyno time will cost more than the headers.
