I have an 06 auto with 19xxx on the clock and on the way home from work in heavy traffic my check engine light came on and the trans began slipping badly. I have two codes, P0700 and P1825, both are trans related but I am not sure of the specifics. The tranny temp went to 243 on the drive home and the other engine parameters were normal. Coolant temp 225, oil temp 220, oil pressure about 40. Any idea what happened to my trans and a translation of the codes would be great.
Well the P0700 code means you have a transmission internal failure. The other code the P1825 is a code for ther IMS switch or Internal Mode Switch. The switch is a lever operated switch that moves with the shifter. It tells the TCM computer what position the transmission is in.
Now to solve problem a few test must be done by somebody who knows the 6l80E Transmission. I would first check the TCM fuse for power at the fuse block in the engine compartment. Also you may want to check the wire going to the transmission from the fuse block also. I think the wire is pink with a stripe. Ifbad check the fuse block. May need a new one. I have change a lot of them for bad connections to the transmission. If good then you may have a bad IMS switch but if that is bad it can sometimes burn up some clutches in the transmission. Then the transmission will have to be rebuilt.
Take it to a good technician that knows Corvettes.
