Default Turbo kit

Well i started this thread to get some info for a turbo kit i would like to develop. Im new to the corvette market and i am amazed on how much hi performance parts cost.take for example exhaust, your right around the $800-$1000 dollar range.i really dont see nothing special about a glass pack exhaust except that its for a vette.ive been drag racing buick grand nationals for a long time.i know that market in and out.i supply some people with parts.i dont own a shop,i just have a lot of connections and also some knowledge of the industry.anyways i see full catback stainless exhausts for mustangs for less then 400 bucks, and im asking myself why cant i make that for the corvette market? I want to make racing and hi performance affordable again.it shouldnt be a luxury. So if i can get some imput from fellow corvette owners on what they would be interested in,i can try to design and develop new or existing products.im not trying to ruin a market or step on anybodys toes,i just want everybody to enjoy and feel the passion of hot rodding a brand new corvette.

Well back to the turbo story. I need some info on the difference between the stick and the automatic exhaust?i want this turbo kit to work on both.
My main concern is if all c6 non zo6 came with the dual 2.5" exhaust.
By the way i own an 07 c6 vette 6 speed.this will be the test mule.i will dyno before and after to show the gain in h.p.
This kit will be a single turbo kit.i really dont see the point of twin turbo.back in the day twin turbo would be easier to spool up than one big turbo.but now we have dual ball bearing turbos. No more turbo lag, especially not from a v8.
It will have an external waste gate, intercooled,an oil return pump and it will most likely be mounted in the rear, that will keep the cost down.the kit will be easy to install.i will create a safe pump gas program with low boost.an option will also be a race gas (c16) program with some nice boost.and for the hardcore drag racer maybe a cnc head porting system, custom cam and pushrods, a rotating assembly. And some 9:1 pistons.

Some of my contacts are isky cams,cp pistons, probe ind.,precision turbo, duttweiler performance and r&d dyno.
Just to name a few.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks luis

Luis,

One of the main reasons for twin turbos vs single turbos is that the plumbing to run a big single is a lot more difficult to route and a lot longer to the turbo, increasing lag. Ball bearings help reduce lag but ultimately a big turbo will spool like a big turbo unless you hit it with a shot of nitrous or something similar.
As far as I know most exhaust systems will bolt up to either transmission car, but some manufacturers like GHL make an A6 specific system to reduce drone (that's what I read on the forum; no first hand experience here).

And yeah, I agree, Corvette parts are way too expensive... But if you shop around and do your own work you can get these cars pretty quick without spending a fortune.. I'm making around 600whp right now with maybe $8000 invested total, and I could've spent even less if I wasn't so picky about brands and certain things like ceramic coatings and polished items...

Most of the problems I have seen with the exhausts is the ones for the A6. The manual 6 speed and the A4 in the 2005 use the same exhaust. I assume that the A6 is a little bigger, making for a tighter fit where the exhaust goes over the axle.

And there are stainless headers/exhaust out there for the corvette that are in the $300-$500 range.

Hey BOOSTING87,

I'll be working on a single turbo setup first thing January or the end of December. I will be placing the turbo in place of the battery to try and offset of weight of the driver. If you need any assistance I'd be happy to help. I'm in Gardena
