Default Brake help

OK I need a little help. I have and 05 Z51 and need to replace the brake pads. I don't want to pay $480 for factory replacements when I can get aftermarket for $180. The question is this: should I go with Ceramic or the Hawk HPS. I drive the car about 3K miles a month and need longevity but hate all the brake dust that turns my wheels blk. Any help would be great from those that have tried them. Pros and cons would be helpful if possible. Again thanks in advance.

I have installed and driven in a car with ceramic brake pads... They still dust some, but their dust is very light colored so it doesn't make the rims look dirty. Performance wise I wouldn't take them to the race track, but they had no issue locking up the tires and kicking in the ABS at over 100MPH... They are supposed to last very long, but I can't comment there since I've never driven them for too long.
Hawks are good, but they dust a LOT... Personally on my car I'm planning on some carbotech pads based on some very good experiences I've had with them on previous cars... But I am looking for a pad I can take to the track on occasion.

I put on AC Delco Dura-Stop Ceramic pads (Z51) because I hated the dust and I have heard of pitting on chrome rims. They're just as good as stock if you don't track the car, which I don't. No noise and VERY little dust. Got mine from Gene Cully.

cermaic pads get horrible horrible brake fade. They are good for one stop at a time if you have to make multiple stops in a row good luck. I have carbon metallic they are the ones that nascar uses and they stop great. they dust a little more but the stopping power is worth it.

You can purchase the GM Ceramic Brake Pads from Gene Culley (GMPartsHouse.com) at this link:

Ditto on Gene Culley's GM Ceramics. No noise,no dust, and adequate stopping power for street use. I changed my Z51 pads about 3K miles ago and love them.

Same here. After putting them on the Corvette, I did all my cars becasue the wheels stay so clean.
