Default Aftermarket A6 options

Well guys in that time. I put one of Andy kits on my car and the tranny starting slipping as we were finishing up on the dyno last night. What companies are beefing up the A6's? I heard a few things about Rpm doing one. Did they ever complete it? I talked to Rossler transmissions and they said that they have done a few. Im just wondering what other options I have. Thanks

If a company told me "we have done a few" I would avoid them like the plague! RPM is the company I hear about, for what its worth.

I just ordered a T trim and having Vette Drs install in a week or two and have the A6 so Im pretty interested in your issue. How much HP and TQ did you make? How many miles on tranny?

According to RPM Transmission's website the A6 is still being worked on. They just have a general description of what they will be doing to beef up the trans.

Saying they have done a few is better than saying we can rebuild your stock one without upgrading it. Right? Do you know who Rossler is? One of the A6’s they built is in a C6 that makes right at 650rwhp. (Procharged, stroked, h/c/I etc) The person that told me about the cars claims he beats on it regularly and has had no problems. It’s a white C6 z06 clone. They custom made billet parts and put upgraded clutches etc in it. No special tuning needed to be done when the new trans was installed. It seems like the way to go unless RPM has a better option. You may want to check on Rosslers reputation http://www.rosslertrans.com . They are not a fly by night company by any means

My car made 562 corrected with 487 torque. I run a 3.8 pulley on an S-trim. It may have some more in it but it started slipping as we were tuning. The trans has around 30k miles on it.

Ive never heard of Rossler but to be honest I havent researched trannys and dont know much about particular shops so take my comment with a grain of salt. You seen to know more about the subject than me. And certainly others here will be able to help, Im sure.
I checked out your profile and you have H/C/I already on the car then added the blower( Im guessing) so thats quite a bit more power than mine will put down with just LG longtubes installed already. Keep us updated and good luck.

I have been racing for 14 years but I have only had a chevy (vette) for less than a year. I had not heard of Rossler until I started going to big races and talked to the fast guys about what they were running. I don’t think you can find them in Summit or Jegs but they build transmissions for the fastest cars in the country. They did not claim to have the highest horsepower A6 on the market. They simple said that they have fixed a few and made custom parts and the cars did not come back. He also said that the more broken ones they get, the better the rebuilds will get. I do have a lot of faith in RPM too. I own a level 3 rear from them that works flawlessly. There customer service was awesome too

Wait till You "need" to beef it up then worry about it!!
If Mine breaks,,,another trannys not too much $$.
Why beef it up if it's not broken yet?

As stated in my first post, it is broken. I limped it home part throttling it from the dyno. It silps in every gear. I am going to start saving up for a built one now.

I have delt with this already guy's.. I know RPM is a sponcer, and LOTS of people have used there stuff on here, BUT, I have already broken a 6l80e, and I talked to them. They said EXACTLY that, "we have done a few.". They would tell nothing about what they would do to mod it. They would offer NO info on ANY mods that they were perfoming, yet they wanted THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS to go through it!

I was shocked.. They refused to tell me what they were doing to strengthen this tranny. I was told they used aftermarket clutches, but the clutch area in the a6 is EXTREMELY large, and they are not the problem, the tuneup in the trans and some of the hardparts are the weekness.. I was very dissapointed, considering i had a broken trans, and was ready to ship it to them. I had it out of the car and everything...

I have since talked to ALOT of people, including OTHER sponcers on this board about what could be done, and I have had the trans rebuilt by a trans shop here in ST Louis. There ARE NO AFTERMARKET parts for this trans, and anyone who tells you they have some are either lieing to get you to spend your money, or they are wittleing them out in there basement.. If you want your new trans to last, and have it live under +++HP, talk to CHuck at COW, I am going to have him tune the tcm for the new trans, He will at least tell you what you are getting into for what money..

sorry if it seemed like I was ranting, but this was a sore subject for me as I ended up driving to florida to BUY another trans out of a wrecked c6 a6 to get my car running because nobody would give me a straight answer when I needed it and was ready to spend the money..

like NYC6, VD is also doing the SC T-trim and cam to my ls3A6 soon, and i am looking for a straight answer to this question, my way of thinking on this is that why wait for something to break when you can prevent it? does RPM just repair the A6, or can they make it better so i wont do any damage with my 550-600 RWHP?

thanks
James

I was making 550 to 575 with 6 pounds on my 402 with a D1, and the car was making 650 plus with the smaller pulley's, and I was told there is NO making a a6 live for any predermined length of time.

I hope you guy's get better answers than i did.. If anyone is interested PM me and I will give you the name of the place that has done mine.. They kept me in the loop the entire time, I am very happy with the outcome and the PRICE!....

Your not ranting. I appreciate your input. I am tempted to put an A4 in it with a stand alone controller. I have used several stand alone controllers on mustangs. Rossler said that the hard part that they have seen broken the most were something to do with 2nd gear. They created their own billet upgrades to prevent it from happening again. As for the tune, Chuck seems to know what he is doing with the trans but I refuse to pay someone to own a computer that is mine. I dont like the "locking" thing. I adjust shiftpoints when I go to the track and dial in my car.

Im not sure. I understand that everyone wants the magic answer to the A6 problem but I wanna know whats going in my tranny before spending $3000.00 on a tranny. (If that is the case)

+1 on the 4l60e with the stand alone, If I break another one, This is EXACTLY what is going to happen until people get there act together with these 6l80e's. The shifter and everything from a 2005 could be used.. I have thought about this alot, and for the 3000 they want to do one, a NASTY 4l60e can be built and put in..

Very true. I just bought a stage 3 diff with 3:15's that would not work with the 4l60e. That would suck. My favorite trans controller is the pcs box. www.powertraincontrolsolutions.com. You can even put switches to change trans tune on the fly, you can add or use factory paddle shifters with no delay too

It may not appear locked. You cannot make changes to it or the changes you make do not work. Thats what I hear. Maybe its not true. What kind of power are you making?
