Default Drag time comparison

A quarter mile drag. Both cars same 60'.
If car A ran quarter in 12.5 seconds.
If car B ran quarter in 13.5 seconds.
About how many car lengths would be your guess that car A would win by?

60 ft doesnt mater, if both reaction times were the same the 12.50 car would win by 10 car lenths

Each .10 tenth equals about one car length. Thus your famed 10.69 bolt-on (soon to be 10.5x) would beat my 11.79 bolt-on by 11 car lengths.

I agree the general rule may be one car per .10 second, but doesn't the actual distance depend on the difference in speed throughout the quarter mile ? It would seem if one car was set up well and the other not so well the one car per .10 second may not work exactly.

Am I correct or just over thinking the whole thing ?

Yes your over thinking. General rule does not mean exactly!

It's roughly based on a 16 ft. car at an average speed of 109 mph.

Faster the car the more it is, so at 130mph .1 second is more distance traveled at say 100mph.
easy to figure

Hmm, well maybe I'll go line up with Dennis and see how many lengths he beats me by just to verify that.
Umm, on second thought, maybe I won't subject my car to such an azzwhoopin'.
