Default Performance difference between 2.56 and 2.73 gears

What kind of performance difference is there between an A6 with 2.56 versus one with 2.73 gears? How much faster in the 1/4 would the 2.73 car be?

Like I said in the other thread...about .10 max, if that.

The difference between 2.56 & 2.73 is 0.17.
The difference between 2.73 and 3.42 is 0.69
The difference between 2.56 and 3.42 is known to pick up .around 20 to .30.

0.17 divided by 0.69 is 0.24 or 24%. Therefore, the change from 2.56 to 2.73 should pick up only 24% of what the change between 2.73 and 3.42 did.

24% times 2 tenths = 0.5 of half of a tenth
24% times 3 tenths = 0.72 or less than three fourths of a tenth.

Gotcha, looks like you were posting to the other thread while I was posting this.

That 2.73 is only a good .10 deal if you buy a new one as part of the $1,500 Z51 option or as a $395.00 separate option. Pay any more, not worth it.

don't do it. I did it on my Mustang GT years ago and it was a waste. At least it was only a few hundred for that car. go 3.42 or 3.73.
