Default A6 shifting troubles: Need some help

The car is a 2008 A6 with ARH, 3:15's and a Vigilante 2800 converter.
I'm having an issue with the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts flaring up during the shift but only under hard throttle, and only in Drive. The transmission shift normally when I'm granny driving.

It happened last night and again this morning. With the tranny in Drive, the transmission shifted from 1st into 2nd really fast and crisp but when it tried shifting from 2nd into 3rd at about 4000-4500 rpm the engine rev'd up to 6000 instantly and wouldn't shift or take 3rd gear until I lifted off the gas. Not good.
I did the same experiment in S Auto mode 5 minutes later and all the shifts were fast and normal without any flare up between shifts.

Is it a tranny issue?
Is it the torque converter?
Is it the tune that's off?

Help.

Have you checked the Fluid? I had that same problem and after several hard drives, the fluid somehow shrinks down???? At least that is what GM told me. Sure enough I got under it and checked the fluid and it was low. Added about an additional quart and no more problems.

I just had the converter installed a month ago but maybe they didn't install enough fluid. I will check it out.
Thanks

I would like to know if you saw a big difference after the converter was installed since you already have the 3.15 gears . Also , would you mind telling me your rear wheel horsepower and torque . Thanks for any help . Larry

The car loves the converter Larry and I would highly recommend one even with 3:15 gears. The car is very lively now.

Took the car to the dealership and it's fixed and ready to go.
They found some debris in the valve body.
