What makes any car fun is low to midrange torque. Horsepower sells cars and torque provides the fun factor, allways has and likely will for the forseeable future. Judging an engines true performance by the peak HP #s is for guys who know only what they can read in the auto press periodicals. Lots more to it than that. The import small displacement motors can put up some respectable peak HP #s on the almighty dyno but have to be run like a chainsaw to get them. They disappoint in the real world and feel gutless because they lack torque.

Like many have said, if you're doing headers, make sure you at least do the a cai and retune.

If I think back, I believe my #s with VR, Dynatech 1 &7/8s, Borla Touring, and a Dyno tune with a mix of 91/Torco was 448 RWHP and 44X somthing TQ.

I sense your definition of fun is cruising along and then going WOT or less in the 3000-5000 rpm range.
Other definitions include WOT from a dead stop for 1/4 mile, high speed lateral thrust, flat out high speed, serious braking, show and shine, and casual cruises.
A Cat powered Kenworth has 550hp and 1850tq, but it's still not fun for everyone.

Trucks are geared to overcome 70,000+ lbs of resistance. Put half that tq in your Corvette and you would care less about "peak" HP #s from a dyno. The area under the torque curve is far more important than what the friendly dyno operator shows as a max HP figure. What makes a performance car fast is the TQ that determines HP as a function of rpm.

I have LG headers with 3" pipes as they have for Z06 applications and this same pipe allowed me to use the Z06 catback with its existing pipes so when you decide you want headers simply get the Z06 version headers whcih then have 3" pipes all the way back for use with the Z06 catback and no cutting of pipes has to happen. You dont get the C6 base version if you know youre getting the Z06 catback.

Also, although the inlet to the mufflers is 2 1/2 inches it still flows more to not have a 2 1/2 inch x-pipe. A 2 1/2 inch x-pipe is still a flow restriction of its own.

How true! I had a 04 Honda S2000 that had 240 HP in a 2800 lb car, but it had nothing unless you kept it between 6.5 - 8K RPMs at all times

I forget the #'s, but it ran really well and I do know that Eddies got some dyno sheets for it.

Check with him...
