Default ls2/ls7 front cover

am building a 440 lsx witha 58x ls2 callies crank and am intending on putting it into a c6z06. i know that there were differences in cranks for the ls2/ls7, but what about the front cover. can we use the regular ls2 cover with the front mounted sensor and bo o.k.? we are useing a double roller, have already ground on the inside of the ls2 cover, etc for fitment. thanks, joe

I'm not sure but I think the LS7 cover is different. Deeper maybe.

Joe, you need the long snout crank in order to use the engine in a Z. The long snout crank is used to drive the two stage dry sump oil pump. The balancer is also different for a LS7 vs a LS1/2/3 engine. You MUST use a LS7 timing cover. As far as I know there is no way to use a double roller chain behind a LS7 oil pump.
