Z51 Help!!!!

Z51 Help!!!!

Found a 2006 I am looking to buy and the seller does not have it listed as a Z51, however it does have the cross-drilled rotors in the pictures...

Is there any way to tell whether it is an official z51 package by the VIN?

when you go look at the car look at the glove box there should be a code that would state whether it's a z51 or not.

what would that code be for z51?

if my understanding is right, only the z51 came with the drilled rotors...

actually, I believe the F55 suspension option also came with drilled rotors. plus, anyone can put on drilled rotors, so to me, that isn't the criteria to use. check the option sheet and see if Z51 is listed. if it is, you know you got it.

Get the seller to send you a digital photo of the option label in the glove box. It will have all the option codes including Z51 you are asking about.

In '05-'06 only the Z51 had the drilled rotors. '07+ Z51 and F55 had drilled rotors. Don't go by the brakes as your one and only indicator.

The sticker in the glove compartment is the "service parts identification"
and lists the VIN and all the codes that apply to that specific car's equipment. One of the codes shown will be Z51. If it isn't there you don't have a Z51 equipped car. Cross drilled rotors don't always tell the story because they are sometimes added as a dealer installed option on non Z51 models. The only other way to find out is to cross reference the VIN to it's build sheet which shows the Z51 option.
