Hi Guys,
I am changing out spark plugs on an 08. Number two plug has some kind of shield around it where as I am finding it difficult to fit the socket to the plug. Any advice?
thanks for your help!
I can not figure out what is in the way. Not able to take a clear photo with the exhaust manifold setup. My finger can not feel the base of the spark plug and different deep well sockets do not work?
I finally removed the spark plug. Someone put a rubber boot on it? I bought the car with 6000 miles so I don't think anyone changed plugs. Factory fun?
Looks like you ripped the inside of the plug wire boot off. Somethings best left alone when there is nothing wrong with them. There are little plug wire removal tools that help you get in there and pull the boot off without damaging the wire or boot. Or just leave the hood shut.
The boot did not come off my socket or the end of the plug wire. (checked twice!) I changed the plugs because I did not purchase the car new, and wanted the piece of mind that all original plugs and wires looked good. It's just a habit when I buy used to replace spark plugs and check wires.
Just nosey mind ya but why are you changing out 2008 plugs that are good for 100K mile?
I've seen plenty of so called long life plugs loose a tip. Not a bad thing to do when you are unsure of the car's history. Probably worth doing before you buy a used car although I guess this one was still under warranty.
