Default 40 MPG C6, Will it work?

I found this article at EE Times:
http://www.eetimes.com/rss/showArtic...2902652&pgno=1

It sounds a lot like diesel and some parts seem counter-intuitive to making power (warming the air). It reports a 30% fuel economy increase and no loss of power on their F-150 test vehicle. This is capable with a small change to the intake and a $100 chip. What do you technical experts out there think? Could this save the V8 Vette?

I don't know if that will work but chevrolet is probably going to need that or something like that to meet the new 2011 CAFE standards and new emission standards that they announced yesterday, If they want to keep the corvette at the level it's at now. So I wouldn't be suprised if you see something like this. And I believe that they heat the air to reduce emissions thats why the BMW 335's normal operating oil and coolent tempartures stay in the 260 degree range.

Sounds a lot like what Smokey Yunick did 20 years ago. I believe he even sold some of teh ideas to one of the automakers.

Yup, Smokey built the Fiero with the his hot vapor system and it really did work. The car was featured on Horsepower TV years ago. Smokey Yunick was a brilliant engineer though I don't think he ever had any formal training.

Anyway, the system should work on the Vette, but a piggy-back chip is a BS solution that would never go on my Vette. Man, talk about a Rube Goldberg fix.
