Default First Dyno Run

Well, I did my first dyno run today on my 2008 LS3 A6. This was done before I install my headers this weekend to see the before and after results. This was done on a dynojet. My RWHP was 373.26 and 374.43Torque. Hopefully after the headers, intake and tune I can be around 415 or 420?? Whats your guess on the after??

So you're bone stock right now?

Good call on dynoing before/after. Let us know the results!

bone stock except for an airaid intake. my tuner says that becuase it has not been tuned for the intake, it will only make around 2rwhp difference because my computer still thinks its on stock airflow. He also said that his dyno results will show much lower than other dynos. Apparently some tuners program their dynos to show higher numbers to make their customers feel good. My tuner thinks that after headers and tune with the already installed intake we will see significant gains. maybe around 410-420 rwhp.

well look at it that way: would you rather have 420rwhp and can't break into the 11's or have 300rwhp and run low 10's?

Dyno numbers are just that, numbers. You're on the right track, as long you use the same dyno with an SAE correction, you'll be able to see what your gains are from mods to mods. Don't focus on the hp read outs...unless you're into bragging contests

Definitely not wanting bragging rights or pissing contests. Youre right, dyno numbers are just numbers. I just want to see positive results with better track times.

Thanks

Must have been an honest shop using a Dynojet 248, SAE corrected, Smoothing 3 since the numbers are VERY close to what I got on my '08 A6, Z51, NPP. I got 372.26RWHP/370.69RWTQ in Nov.

My '05 gained aprx 40 RWHP with LT headers, CAI, Tune and a ported stock intake so 373 + 40 = 413, an acceptable RWHP goal.

One of the methods for questionable tuners is to set up the dyno so that your baseline numbers are artificially low. That way when they get done with their work and the after dyno is + XXXrwhp they can say what a great job they did. Dyno is a before and after tool. Use the same one post your header work and you are good to go..
