C6 -"Options Unavailable" message in DIC
One of our FOB's has not been right since the battery in the C6 died and had to be recharged. For example, it sometimes beeps several times when we get in or out of the car with the #2 FOB only. The car will not lock automatically when you leave the car. You must manually hit the lock function on the FOB for the car to lock.
Then....when trying to select options with the #2 FOB, via the DIC I get an "Options Unavailable." So we tried to reprogram the FOB and all we get is a message on the DIC that says "the #4 FOB is ready to be programmed." Well, we don't have 4 FOB's we only have two. This is where we stopped trouble shooting. Where to from here?
Although the car starts with the FOB in my pocket I cant program it and it's very frustrating. Any ideas???
Thanks
Fobs programmed as #3 or #4 do not allow setting of the options, so you get the "Options unavailable" message when in the car with that particular fob.
Unfortunately, the only way to 'reorder' the fob # is to erase ALL the fobs from the car's memory and start over. You cannot selectively reorder just one fob to be a specific "slot #" if that slot has already been set to correspond to another fob. The first fob you program will be #1, the second you program will be #2, etc. Your car currently has memorized 3 different fobs, so now, when you try to program another, it says "ready for fob #4".
The total fob relearn procedure is detailed in the owners manual. It *can* be done in your garage, but it is long (about 30 mins) and exacting, so many people are uncomfortable doing it, and they take it to the dealer.

Be aware that the procedure for erasing and then reprogramming *all* the fobs is different than the procedure for just reprogramming a single fob. It's in your owner's manual under "matching fobs when no working fobs are available" or something like that, and involves 3 individual "wait 10 minutes" cycles.

I'll be trying this when I get back into town on 2/15
Thanks again for the help
