Yup, you need to shunt the turn signal wire and the ground with the resistor. Make sure you mount the resistor someplace (seen people put it on the back "tub" of the chassis) where it won't melt - these things get damn hot - especially if you have an automatic and are going to be sitting at stop lights for long periods of time with the brake on.
The lights came with some sort of resistor box that sticks to back tub, that is in place and Richard I guess he is the proprietor states this resistor he is sending should just crimp on some wire, which he didn't know which one. Doesn't really make me feel comfortable, he doesn't know how to hook it up but expects me to. I may just send the tail lights back, I'm feeling a little uncomfortable with these lights now.
I would be very careful when using a resistor that produces heat.
