My buddy told me about a post here talking about cutting a square into the main muffler body, removing a component, welding your entrance hole up and having a decent sounding exhaust. If this sounds familiar to anyone, can you point me in the right direction. I searched for key words, but could not find it - cheers!

Its on the Z06 muffler only, there are a few threads on it
ZO6 mufflers only. Did mine 2 weels ago. Standard c-6 mufflers dont have the perforation in there pass through pipes. I THINK. If i'm wrong somebody will correct.
If you have the link for the z06 exhaust mod, please direct, I'll search on those key words. If a connector pipe is not already "perforated" my drill and I can fix that! I am not afraid to experiment with the stock exhaust. If I mess it up, I would have replaced it anyway! Thanks guys and gals!
I found the Z06 mod - looks like we are WRAPPING and COVERING the connector tube - darn. I wonder if the standard C6 has the same perforated connector tube???
If we think the standard exhaust is similar to the z06, I'd be happy to make a cut and see what we have. Anyone know what i'll see if I cut open an access hole?
Anyone know "what lies beneath" the non-ZO6 exhaust?
I know, seen pictures but why do you care, nohting you can do to change the sound (like the Z06) unless you want to do a complete rebuild and then you still have no bi-mode feature. They are scrap to most so get a set and cut them open
I didn't understand it either until i did it. Really wakes up the car. And i still dont think the c-6 standard exhaust has the perforations in there pass through. Someone above mentioned drilling holes!! not the point, you cover the holes to make this work.
Good luck
On the stock C6 muffler, open the muffler body bottom just behind the tail pipe tips. Drill or cut openings in the pipe body in the rear most muffler chamber. Reseal outer shell. This allows a direct path to the outlet pipe. The more material removed from the inner pipe, the louder the muffler will become.
You learn something everyday. Have not seen this one yet.
If you look at the picture in post 11, the pipe area where C6 is written, that is the pipe to drill or perforate. That chamber receives un-muffled exhaust from the inlet pipe. When you drill or perforate the pipe to the tips, the exhaust that has not yet made the trip through the muffler has a path to the outside world,[the tips] . I have done this to my 06 , sounds better than stock, just slightly louder than a " touring" .
