Last night my engine started to make a loud noise while I was driving down the highway. When i got home I was able confirm it was the belt. today it went away. So i have a couple of questions
1) what is the normal operating temp of the engine
2) what is the normal life span of the Belt
3) do the Non-gmpp, extended warranties that you get form the dealer cover belts, I don't think so. But I think it might have killed the water pump. Since the engine is operating at less than 200 degrees now.
Don't know your mechanical skills so, either check or have checked. Remove belt and check ALL rotating assemblies for roughness or "loose" pulleys. While off look the belt over for cracks. At 60k miles it is possible that you need a belt, maybe idlers....
You may want to confirm that you do not have a problem with your harmonic balancer that affected some 2005's. There is a TSB for this problem and plenty of posts on the forum.

This.
I had the same type of noise, and when I got home, popped the hood, grabbed the crank pulley bolt (harmonic balancer) and it was less than hand tight.
