in my quest for eliminating this wheelhop, ive already replaced the Z51 shocks with some bilstein HD's. i can say it is hoping alot less, but its still there, and its getting warmer outside so that is helping as well. and i already have some ps2's on.
my next is to throw in the pfadt engine motor mounts and stop some of that shake.
i did a search and could not find any info on some easy ways to install these mount in a garage on car jacks.
i assume i have two options, lift motor, or hold motor up and drop the subframe.
the mounts are on backorder, should be here by st patties day though.
If you undo the nut on the bottom of the mounts, then you can jack up the engine. you then are going to have to unbolt the mount bracket from the engine (three bolts) each.
the roll the unit out. It might be a good idea to undo the top nut of the mount from the bracket first as well. it would make it easier to RR.
Just don't forget there is an alignment pin on the bottom of the mounts.
Hope this helps.
The mounts were on back order? We have those in stock at all times! The mounts will help your quest to the wheel hop issues, I would also bet, some poly bushings and toe adjustments would not be a bad bet either .
As for installation, you can lower the front cradle and support the engine, its not going to be fun on the ground but do-able. You will have a solid 4-6 hours on the ground to do this job, with a lift and some tooling its a little faster.
thanks for all the help guys.
im probley gonna try the lift motor up method, i might end up having to loosen the headers and removing the manifold.
and what TOE adjustments would you recommend? gotta get an alignment anyways after i put these new lowering bolts in and slam it. i hope that wont make it worse!
I have no wheel hop with my setup. pdfat mm and trans mounts. Here is a pick of mm installed I took while installing coil overs this weekend. the annodized orange to the left of the shock. Easy for the builder, the engine was out
