Default Engine temps with mods?

Hi all. I was wondering what kind of engine coolant temperatures your cars run if you have engine mods done to it versus a stock engine? 10-20 degrees hotter or not really any change?
Thanks.

Mine runs cooler now thanks to a 160F Thermostat and reprogrammed fans that turn on sooner...

Big question with lots of scenarios.

Like PowerLab did, most will put in 160 thermostat ... and for all the mods I have seen done here (heads, cams, s/c, etc) that has sufficiently got the job done.

Those that punched the block out, are running twin turbos, etc - they put in better radiators to ensure no issues ... generally.

The increase in heat is not really big issue with these engines in these cars - and easily solved in most cases.

It depends ENTIRELY on usage... Around town I simply can not drive the car hard enough to cause it to overheat; with 600horsepower at the rear wheels, sustaining full throttle for more than a few seconds at a time will get the car going so fast I will go straight to jail if I get caught. The hardest I've been able to drive it; 3 back to back pulls to the top of 4rth gear (150MPH) had the coolant temperature rise up from 176F where it normally sits to about 210F, which is what a factory car will run on a warm day.
If you take it to a race track (a real race track, not a 1/4 mile), particularly on a hot day you can get it to overheat; even factory cars will overheat on the race track if driven hard enough.
Other types of usage will be somewhere in between.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to know. I just bought a C6 with a Ligenfelter top end kit installed by them. This is my first vette so I don't know what a stock one runs temp wise so I didn't know what this one should run. It does have the 160 thermostat in it. It seems to run about 180 on the highway and in town getting stuck at traffic lights it gets to 210 but hasn't gone over that yet so I was just curious if I was where I should be and I appear to be ok. Thanks again.

that is normal, 160 tstat will run 180 temps on hwy, in town 200-210
a big CI motor 427 with a 180 tstat runs 200 on hwy, 210-215 in heavy traffic with the a/c on.

My 415ci LS3 with a 160* stat runs in the mid to high 180s in mid summer cruising and in the low 190s in stop and go traffic.
