You don't want to butcher your car? What's left that's STOCK?

My random thoughts came just now while watching the GatorNationals on ESPN.

How come a motorcycle rider gets to race with no protection save his leathers, boots and helmet and cars have to have roll bars/cages, fire extinguishers and a host of other safety gear? It really defies logic.
I always wondered the same. Seems as if the roll bar rules are a holdover from back in the day when convertibles did not routinely get in the 13's from the factory.

Are there any outlaw tracks that do not abide by NHRA rules and sanctioning?

You're right, it wasn't butchered but I'm sure at one point it looked that way! I think you prob. still have the "stock" windshield wiper fluid

I don't think it's the top going down; that it will do, once. It's trying to put the top back up that's the problem. It could be, however, that someone with a manual top who doesn't plan to use it other than for racing already has one. But I haven't seen anyone come on here and say that yet.

So is the 11.50 rule. Any new z06's, zr1's, vipers ect will do this right off the showroom floor. Who's going to put a cage in a mass produced car you just drove off a dealers lot so you can legally race at a dragstrip?? There was a letter writing campaign a while back from some people here to try to get the rules changed because of the speed the newer cars were having and if I remember it didn't go very far.
It seems if you have a vert any track isn't willing to take the legal risk if something were to happen.

What legal risk? The risk that you sign away before you get on the track?

If you wanna be a dumbazz and race your car and wreck it who cares. You sign away your rights the second you get on the track so I dont see the need for all the rules.

My point originally - I would expect that the bike riders sign a release....

Come on John, you never have the top up! Rip the top out, and put a roll bar in! Do you even know what color top you have?

Easy answer. Get a removable hardtop. You are good to 11.50 then.

Any piece of paper YOU sign will not be binding on your widow, or your orphans . . . . . .

I'd have to pedal at the end No HPDE either, as I understand it.

Motor cycle don't weigh 3k and you don't stay with it in a crash! It might be hard to jump out of your car after it rolls over and smashes you.
