Default Ventureshield

Has anyone had paint protection applied to your vehicle and in particular, Ventureshield. I live in Michigan and plan to get it applied to my 08 coupe this Friday and want to make sure that I am doing the right thing.

Thanks

I've had X-Pel on 4 different cars - 2 Vettes including current, BMW and CTS. Secret is in getting an installer that knows what he is doing.

Ask for references. Talk to the local corvette club. Go look at some of the installers body of work. The last thing you want to have is someone learning on your dime. The stuff is good, but it isn't cheap.

Default Clear Bra

there have been a number of threads on this.
I am a new ower of a "07" coupe, 3LT Z51 with 8K on it.
I am thinking of having the clear bra installed too.
But up in the air as to. Some guys in here swear by the 3-M brand.
Others love the Vntureshield. Everyone say the installer makes all the difference. My problem is the film is soft. And this makes washing that part of the car a problem. I have not found out how to take care of the stuff. Do you wax it? How do you dry off the parts covered with the film? I sure hate those small rock chips.

I have had this product on my car from 07 and my wifes car from 08. It is PERFECT. Looks totally clear to this day and had saved my car from all road debris. I would do this on everycar from now on without a doubt.

Wash and wax just like the paint. Not hard to care for at all.

I have ventureshield on mine and think it does protect the car. If you ever clay bar your paint be careful and do not do near the edges as the clay will stick to the edge and is difficult to remove. Installlation as stated is the key, you MUST have a good installer. Have had it since Oct 06 and would do it again.

Default Venturesheild

I've had Venturesheild for almost 3 years and 20,000 miles with no problems. There are some marks on it that would have definitly been in the paint if I hadn't had it on.

I also agree that installation is probably more important than the brand used. Find out who the local Porsche dealer uses.

I had Ventureshield installed over a year ago and it looks great! Ventureshield is an excellent product, very durable, non yellowing with a lifetime guarantee. I highly recommend it along with a qualified installer. I had a custom install using one full piece on the hood and the ends wrapped. I also had the front nose one piece custom install with separate light cut outs. I highly recommend it!

I've got the VentureShield as well. Its paid for itself several times. The last time, it was thrashed by a sign or similar that was spit out from under a car in front of me on the freeway. Sure glad the VentureShield was there otherwise it would have done in the paint on the bumper and hood. Its well worth the money.

Have X-Pel on the vette and the CTS. John Drake is right. It is in how good your installer is. Ventureshield is good material and has some good patterns, but I found X-Pel to be better in both material and appearance. Less orange peel from day one. X-Pel now has a premium material that is even supposed to be better. Averages $100 more than their regular.

Some of you may know that Venture Shield's parent (venture tape) was bought by 3M not long ago. I found this thread/post quite interesting. You might like to look at it: post #27. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...hp?p=138427420

I've had 3 done, 2 VS and 1 3M. FWIW, the 3M looks much better and sticks better.

Interesting. There is not many reputable isntallers that will make that claim. 3M has so much orange peel that it does not look good. VS Ultra doesnt have any...

And yes 3M has a much stronger adhesive. But I dont think that is really a player here when the film is warrantied from peeling. 3M 5 years, VS lifetime. That really strong adhesive could be a factor when you have to remove it someday... you wouldnt want to pull the paint.
